Insecure Season 3 Read Me For Filth

By Shavonne Taisha

It’s no secret to anyone who knows me that I view Insecure as a reflection of my life. HBO’s Insecure is said to “Follows the awkward experiences and racy tribulations of a modern-day African-American woman.” Insecure’s main character Issa Dee is Goofy, awkward, adventurous, clumsy, and spontaneous.

We may laugh, we may cry, we may argue over these fictious characters, but truthfully we all know the reason for the shows success is deeply rooted in how each character portrays us or someone we know. If you’ve followed myself, or Mlnnnyc for years you’d know I’m far from perfect. As I’ve watched Issa navigate through professional obstacles and romantic interests. I’ve seen myself, voiceless, powerless, out of control.

The third-season finale left back nothing at all. As voyours we peaked into Issa Dee’s life while subsequently retracking our own steps. As Issa finds her voice at work, finally quiting “We Got Y’all” and making strides towards finding her purpose. I sat with my Passion Planner, scribbling through my monthly reflection, setting realistic, intentional goals for each day and week. Issa Dee’s desire to produce and create with love, struck a cord with me.

Many viewers have said to be displeased with this season. However progression and drama free never looked so good. It was refreshing to watch Issa Dee glow all the way up. As she sets boundaries, I reviewed some challenges I neglected to vocalize, and reclaim every last bit of my time and energy.

Flipping insecurities into affirmations, while party lyfting my spirits. If you’ve been in a rut season 3 is the confirmation that this is only the beginning of your comeback.
