Women's History Wednesday: Zhane

We asked Zhane, "How do you make history daily?" And this was her response: 

Being unapologetically me is 1 way I make my mark on history. As a recent college graduate from FIT, I currently manage my growing hair business, serving as the chief natural hair stylist, all while maintaining a coveted full time corporate role in the fast paced wholesale fashion industry. All of which were started while balancing my courses at FIT. These two professions have shaped who I am today. They truly allow me to release my creative perspective and influence those around me and inevitably the world, through working with different textures of natural hair and within many areas of the fashion industry.

Progression is personal to me. So to be able to make progress within both occupations, serves as a huge purpose in my life.

I aspire to inspire the youth, my peers and even predecessors. With that, I position myself for the life I want and try to be a tangible example of self love. Encouraging others to love the skin they're in, , get to know themselves, living the life you want to live and ultimately evolve. There is so much more to life than the fishbowls we often put ourselves in. These are the values I have come to cherish in my 23 years. So I work on myself a lot & work on truly doing the things I want to do. This line of thinking also resulted in me becoming a mentor to a beautiful 16 year old girl named, Destiny.

In order for me to make strides towards making history, I self reflect -a lot! It's one of the ways I get to know myself, make improvements, and pull myself out of my comfort zone. I am not the same person I was this time last year and being able to say that is me making history, the positive kind. I am a better me. Every year I learn to love myself a little more than I did the year before. With that.... I have evolved and will continue to. My accomplishments, the people I put myself around, and willingness to share my story -with the help of the man above- has helped me make history daily.
