The Evolution of Truth City

As a Native New Yorker, I've always admired the strength of those who've left home to pursue their passion. In this "concrete jungle" there are many opportunities to hustle and just as many that provide crash landings.

At a young age Truth City had his eyes set on the big city and all it had to offer. He packed his bags and left Newport News, Virginia. But he knew the only way the city would work for him was if he worked just as hard to achieve. Every single goal he's set is always exceeded. He is a reminder that dreams are just reality waiting to happen.  From cold New York City diners, to the Bowery shelter, to his own studio, an album, and incredible singles.

TruthCity's creates breathtaking anthems like "The Family,"  "Get Rich" and "Everything Black." Each are constant reminders of the end goal. Every venue that feature's him is in the presence of a king. His high vibrations and spirits bring the crowd to church every time. His energy provides a home for spiritual elevation. His soothing voice commands much control as the crowds prepare to get on tables with him. I've faithfully lost many earrings at his shows. His past just makes this present an even sweeter gift to obtain!

Truth City has proven that despite the odds he will always come out on top. His art much like his soul is purely made of gold. Everything he touches is absolute perfection. His following and supporters are reflections of all he's contributed to his community.

I don't remember the exact moment I saw Truth City but I do remember that any connection with him is a connection, I'd never want to lose. Hours seated in his studio, meet ups , and all the phone calls pushing MLNNNYC LLC to produce, produce, and never stop! His love for community is shown in his actions whether business or personal. Besides being one of the greatest producers, artists, and songwriter's in New York City, Truth City remains humbled and continues his work in community service.

Last weekend, on November 19th he honored his former struggle and the struggle of 61,931 people in New York City by creating the Artist 2 Artist Sandwich Drive Fundraiser for the homeless. With help from organizations like Brooklyn Wildlife, One of One Artistry LLC and MLNNNYC LLC , he raised funds to combat homelessness. Many people have told Truth to stop speaking on his previous poverty but to only mention his successes, but as we all know the best part of the journey is not where you are going but the process to get there. His own personal fight with homelessness is a remarkable story of survival, strength, and faith. On December 11th, 2016 he will bring together nearly one hundred artist to feed and clothe the homeless.

Not only is Truth City an A-lister of the underground, he is New York royalty. His words, his music, everything he does makes him a person of much influence! It is my only wish that he continues to grow at this rate of success!

Rapper/ Songwriter / Visionary I'm here to make the soundtrack to your struggle!! Born in the early 90s to a single mother in the US Military, Newport News, Virginia native Ronald "TruthCity" Evans has always dreamed about becoming an entertainer. As a child, Truth's inspiration stemmed from watching his mother perform at various engagements, subsequently discovering his own hidden talents, consisting of penning songs and rapping. Inspired by prolific and distinguished artists such as Jay-Z, Nas, Coldplay, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Andy Warhol to solidify a career in the entertainment industry. During adolescence, Truth made the painstaking decision to leave college before completion, subsequently moving to New York to pursue his musical career. Living a mostly nomadic lifestyle, he found refuge working menial jobs during the day and sleeping on couches and in the back of restaurants during the night. Becoming immensely competitive, Truth honed his skills by rigorously participating in numerous competition and talent shows nationwide. He first gained significant attention in 2006 after opening for Boyz II Men and Faith Evans, as well as Fantasia and Lil Wayne in 2007. In 2009, Truth further materialized his burgeoning career by appearing on BET's 106 & Park's Wild Out Wednesday and even securing the 1st place winner's title at BET's Blaze The Stage. Truth continued to progressively excel, penning songs for the Inkredibles from 2009 -2010, obtaining a publishing deal with Undisputed Ent. Inc from 2010 - 2011. Since signing to The Society Management Group, Inc in 2012, he has recorded over 50 records and has opened for Fabolous and performed numerous venues in NY such as SOBs and Webster Hall. TruthCity is renowned for his unique artistry and eclectic taste, as reflected in his music. Critics have hailed him the future of the new school. TruthCity, the artist and the brand can't only be measured by his talent in the pop, urban, alternative and hip-hop markets as a singer, rapper and songwriter, but is unquestionably professional with a distinct sound, style and image that both recording and performing artist can only dream to possess.
